Wireless, fiber and cable transmission to central station of alarm system signals.
The FCC (Federal Communications Commision) is going to see to it that all "POTS" type telephone lines (the old copper lines that have been in use for decades) are done away with and will no longer have to be offered or supported by your local telephone company.
So, in the not too distant future, the new "standard" for transmission to central station is going to be fiber, cable or wireless transmission.
The result will be the need to upgrade existing alarms that are still using hard-wired, copper lines to the new means of signal transmission. Yes, at the subscribers expense.
IMPORTANT! IF YOU HAVE AN EXISTING ALARM SYSTEM THAT TRANSMITS TO A CENTRAL STATION VIA COPPER TELEPHONE LINES, MAKE SURE YOU NOTIFY YOUR ALARM COMPANY OF ANY CHANGES TO YOUR SERVICE INCLUDING DISCONNECTED NUMBERS, A SWITCH TO DSL, FIBER OR CABLE.
YOUR ALARM SYSTEM SHOULD BE CHECKED IMMEDIATELY FOR PROPER OPERATION AFTER ANY CHANGES ARE MADE TO YOUR TELEPHONE SERVICES!
